Khosrowshahi family was targeted for their wealth in 1978, when he was just 9 years old, and their firm was later nationalized.
This was part of the Iranian Revolution, a series of events that culminated in the monarchical government of Iran being replaced by an Islamic theocratic government in 1979.
Nasrollah Khosrowshahi (Dara’s second cousin once removed) is one of the rare Iranians to win a case in the Hague Tribunal (a popular moniker for any of the numerous international tribunals based in The Hague, Netherlands) for damages caused by the Iranian Revolution.
Dara’s mother decided to quit Iran after the family’s company was assaulted, and the family originally lived in southern France.
