According to officials, the region of the tragedy, widely known as The Devil’s Slide, is notorious for mishaps and fatal collisions.
Patel was in the vehicle with a mother and two children when it crashed off the cliff.
The four people found and rescued inside the wreckage were more afraid than injured, according to rescuers.
However, officials now think that the driver, Dharmesh Patel, intentionally drove the car off the cliff in an attempt to commit murder-suicide.
Patel, Dharmesh Arrested In Pasadena For Murder Attempt
According to California authorities, Dharmesh Patel of Pasadena has been detained for attempted murder and child abuse.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Patel, a woman, and two youngsters were traveling in a Tesla.
It is unclear if the Tesla was in autopilot mode or not.
The circumstances of the event, however, showed that Dharmesh purposefully drove the car off the cliff.
The car crashed off the side of a coastal road known as The Devil’s Slide.
The woman and her two children have yet to be named.
It is also unknown if the woman and her children are linked to Dharmesh.
The cause and circumstances of the accident are still unknown.
According to the documents, the other passengers in the car were a 41-year-old lady and two children, a 7-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy.
CHP investigators interviewed witnesses and collected evidence at the scene.
According to the preliminary inquiry, the incident was most likely caused by an intentional act.
Dharmesh Patel is a Pasadena, California native of Indian ancestry.
He was arrested about 9 p.m. on Monday, January 2, and did not resist.

What Has Happened to Dharmesh Patel?
Dharmesh Patel was being treated for his injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Monday, January 2, 2022.
He has been charged with attempted murder and child abuse and will be sent to the San Mateo County Jail after being released from the hospital.
On Tuesday, January 3, the California Highway Patrol said that Patel had been arrested but would first be treated at a hospital.
Patel, who was injured in the 250-foot fall, will be sentenced once his condition stabilizes.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the matter is still under investigation, and no other details have been disclosed.

The Tesla skidded off the road and struck a rocky ledge, causing it to slide more than 250 feet.
It flipped a few times before landing on its wheels against the cliff, just a few steps from the river’s surf.
To lower the firefighters down the Devil’s Slide, the rescue crew set up a rope system from the highway.
Other firefighters looking via binoculars at the wreckage noticed movement inside the car, which shocked everyone.
The automobile doors were shattered and wedged shut against the rock.
As a result, firemen were forced to cut the door open with “jaws of life” instruments in order to extract the casualties.
Fortunately, the rescue attempt was successful; both children were safely removed, and the two adults had non-life-threatening injuries.
