After being named the “Funniest Serviceman in America,” Gary Owen received his big break in 1997 on the Black Entertainment Television stand-up show Comedy View. Gary Owen followed his television debut with roles in the films College, Little Man, and Daddy Day Care.
He has a huge African-American fan following as a result of his appearances on BET and at events such as the Shaquille O’Neal All-Star Comedy Jam Tour. Gary starred on the BET television show The Gary Owen Show in 2016.
Gary spent six years in the United States Navy as a Master-at-Arms and member of the Presidential Honor Guard before embarking on a successful stand-up comedy career.
Gary continued to perform stand-up in San Diego, where he gained a sizable African-American following.
