According to police in Philadelphia, Pfeffer rejected his counsel.

Early Sunday morning, federal and state authorities surrounded the mother’s Buckingham Township, Bucks County home.

Pfeffer, 18, was detained on charges of murdering Temple University Police Officer Christopher Fitzgerald the night before.

According to a police affidavit, Pfeffer shot the 31-year-old officer at 17th Street

and Montgomery Avenue shortly after 7:12 p.m. Saturday.

After being knocked to the ground, the suspect shot Christopher many times in the face and head.

The 18-year-old suspect was apprehended by police at a residence on Quarry Road in Buckingham Township.

Following that, the suspect attempted to steal Fitzgerald’s gun and checked his pockets.

The incidents were captured on video.

Fitzgerald pursued Pfeffer while investigating a possible crime on

Temple’s campus, according to the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office.

It was unknown what had caused that first meeting.

Pfeffer allegedly stole a man’s Infiniti Q60 at gunpoint shortly after shooting Fitzgerald.

The Temple Officer’s Wife and Children

The deceased cop has been identified as 31-year-old Christopher Fitzgerald,

who is survived by his wife, four children, and parents.

Fitzgerald, a father of four and an avid runner, was certified dead at 7:27 p.m.

He was the first Temple University police officer to die in the line of duty.

On Sunday afternoon, Fitzgerald’s family gathered around a temporary memorial near Bouvier Street and Montgomery Avenue.

Fitzgerald’s cousin, Juan Marrero Jr., reflected on the life

of the man he regarded as a big brother, who had been slain less than twenty-four hours before.

Fitzgerald’s parents are both law enforcement officers, according to Marrero.

After 17 years with the Philadelphia Police Department, Christopher’s father, Joel Fitzgerald,

served in high-profile roles, notably in Allentown, where Christopher had worked as a correctional officer at the age of 19.

Pfeffer was later picked up on Ridge Avenue by his mother and driven back to Bucks County.
