From 2010 to 2013, El Paso was rated “The Safest Large City” in the United States four years in a row.

Greg’s presidency was not without drama. He referred to Black Lives Matter as a “radical hate group” in 2016.

El Paso took to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon to relay the tragic news.

El Paso is heartbroken to announce the death of longtime Police Chief Greg Allen, the city stated.

Allen’s cause of death was not disclosed.

According to KTSM, Greg had been in the hospital recovering after a medical operation.

Following the tragedy, tributes from all across the world have poured in.

The El Paso Fire Department offered a heartfelt message.

“Our hearts and prayers are with Chief Allen’s loved ones, as well as our brothers and sisters in the El Paso Police Department,” the Fire Department said in a tweet.

They also paid tribute to the late celebrity’s community involvement, knowledge, and friendship.

“May you rest in peace, Sir,” they said further.

Similarly, municipal manager Tommy Gonzalez expressed his sadness, adding it was a difficult time for them.
