Adam Silver first appeared in the NBA in 1992.

Silver was the NBA’s deputy commissioner and chief operating officer until being named commissioner in 2014.

Former NBA Commissioner David Stern sponsored the New York-born lawyer/sports executive for the position of NBA Commissioner in October 2012.

Stern resigned from his role as commissioner on February 1, 2014, and Silver took his place.

Silver was named Sports Illustrated Executive of the Year in 2014.

He is a member of Duke University’s Board of Trustees and received the University of Chicago Law School’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2016.
