Jack Klugman is an actor who has appeared in films, television shows, and plays. Jack Klugman was best known for his role in “The Odd Couple,” a TV series and Broadway musical.

He was nominated for a Tony Award for his work in the Broadway musical “Gypsy,” and he won three Emmy Awards for his roles in the television shows “The Defenders” and “The Odd Couple.”

He made his Broadway debut in 1952 and had a lifelong interest in acting.

He starred in the films “Grubstake,” “Time Table,” and “Cry Terror!” on the big screen.

He was the lead character in “Quincy, M.E.” for seven years and received four Primetime Emmy Award nominations for his outstanding performance.

Jack Klugman was born in a working-class Philadelphia neighborhood on April 27, 1922, to Russian Jewish parents Rose and Max, a house painter and hat manufacturer, respectively.

They were five in number.

He had a difficult childhood because his mother had to care for her six children on her own after his father died when he was young.

Jack had to work as a street seller to support his family.

He served in the American Army during WWII.

In 1948, he graduated from the Carnegie Institute of Technology, now known as Carnegie Mellon University, with a degree in theater.

In 1953, Jack Klugman married actress Brett Somers.

The couple’s two children, David and Adam, were born.

They later parted ways. Despite the rumor that they remained married until Somers’ death in 2007, records show that the couple divorced in August 1977.

Klugman moved in with Peggy Crosby in 1988, and the couple married in February 2008. He was 85 at the time.

Jaklin Klugman was a thoroughbred racehorse that Klugman bought because he enjoyed horse racing.

Klugman began his acting career in 1949 when he appeared in the Equity Liberty Theatre production of “Stevedore” in New York.

He eventually dabbled in both television and film.

In 1950, he had a little part in the play “Mr. Roberts” at Boston’s Colonial Theatre.

He made his television debut in “Actors Studio” the same year.

He made his Broadway debut in Clifford Odets’ “Golden Boy” in 1952, alongside Lee J. Cobb and John Garfield.

Two years later, he participated in the soap opera “The Greatest Gift,” and in 1955, he appeared in the anthology television series “Producers’ Showcase.”

He was cast in Sidney Lumet’s legendary courtroom drama “12 Angry Men,” which was based on a Reginald Rose teleplay of the same name.

His acting abilities were finally recognized when he appeared in the Broadway production of “Gypsy: A Musical Fable” in 1959.

He then appeared in four episodes of “The Twilight Zone” television series.

He appeared in the Broadway version of “Tchin-Tchin” for one year in 1962.

From 1960 to 1963, he appeared in two episodes of “The Untouchables,” “Loophole” and “An Eye for an Eye.”

In 1964, he starred in the sitcom “Harris Against the World” as the lead character.

However, after a year, it was canceled owing to low viewership.

When Klugman was offered the lead role of Oscar Madison in the Broadway production of “The Odd Couple” in 1965, it marked a watershed moment in his career.

He also had a recurring role in the 1970 ABC television series of the same name.

He continued in the series for five years.

In 1973, Klugman and Randall recorded “The Odd Couple Sings” for London Records.
