The incident occurred on August 22, 2019, when he and Alex Housden were reacting to a lighthearted video from the Oklahoma City Zoo, according to Wikipedia.
It was a video of an ape named Fin getting too close to the camera.
On Thursday, Jason and Housden were laughing about Fin during the morning show on KOCO-TV. Alex abruptly ended the segment by remarking that the gorilla resembled him.
“Joy Shana,” a Facebook user, recorded the remark and posted it online. The video quickly went viral on the internet. On Facebook, she received numerous hate messages.
Furthermore, one person asked Alex if he thinks all Afro-Americans look like gorillas.
The co-anchors appeared on the same show the next day to address the issue. Alex emotionally accepted that she had said something impolite and inconsiderate.
She then turned to Hackett and told him that she adores him and would never intentionally hurt his feelings. She also apologized from the bottom of her heart to everyone who was offended by her inappropriate words.
