Jim is the older brother of David Hill, a former National Football League tight end. Jim’s brother played for the Los Angeles Rams and the Detroit Lions for twelve seasons.

David also appeared in the Rams promotional video, Let’s Ram It, in 1986, under the alias Big Daddy Hill.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M-Kingsville (then Texas A&I University), where he also played college football.
