Jym Ganahl- Professional Career

Ganahl became irritated when TV weather forecasters failed to predict snow days at school, so he investigated why this was happening. Jym walked into a TV station in Iowa at the age of 17 and told them he could do this job better.

They hired him for 6 nights a week during his college years at the University of Northern Iowa, and he loves being able to continue his hobby, not a job, with WSYX/FOX28 52 years later.

Jym retired on his 50th anniversary of doing weather, but after a year of being bored and depressed, he knew he had to do it again.

He is nearly 70 years old, but he still feels 17 as he shares weather folklore and knowledge with everyone.
