Ky-Mani Marley Career

Ky-Mani began rapping and deejaying as a teenager. “Unnecessary Badness” was his first single.

Ky-Mani soon began experimenting with track laying, sometimes in collaboration with his brothers, Stephen, Julian, and Damian.

Y-Mani signed to Shang Records in 1996, where he recorded his debut album, Like Father Like Son, and several singles, including “Judge Not” with Patra, “Dear Dad” (which topped the British reggae charts),[1] “Who The Cap Fit (remix)”, and “Sensimelia,” all of which contributed to his growing reputation among the new generation of reggae musicians.

Ky-Mani collaborated with Praswell (Fugees) on “Avenue,” a hit cover version of Eddy Grant’s “Electric Avenue” in 1997. Marley made his debut at Midem (international music showcase) when it was held for the first time in Miami. Marley performed a set at the Cameo Theatre that was broadcast live to 36 countries by the Caribbean News Agency.

The Journey, Marley’s next album, was released in 2000. In 2001, he went on tour in support of his third studio album, Many More Roads. Milestone, his fourth studio album, was released in 2004. He released Radio in 2007.

Maestro, his second album, was released in 2015. Marley played lead roles in the Jamaican films Shottas and One Love. His name comes from the East African for “Adventurous Traveler.”
