Hall of Fame defensive tackle who became the first-ever draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers in 1950. He played in every 49ers game for 14 years and was eventually selected to the NFL’s 50th Anniversary All-Time Team. Leo Nomellini was born on June 19, 1924, in Italy. He and Leon Hart were both selected in the first round of the 1950 NFL Draft. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He later attended the University of Minnesota on a football scholarship and became a two-time All-American.
