In 1976, Austin began his journalistic career as a reporter for the Bournemouth Daily Echo. 

He then worked as a newsroom writer for the BBC before becoming a news reporter in 1982.

In 1986, Mark joined ITN and began covering sporting events all over the world for ITV News. 

He subsequently moved on to cover many wars and crises around the world.

Mark was promoted in 2002 and began working on the program, ITV Evening News, before becoming the lead presenter of ITV News in 2005.

He has also hosted various reality shows and other television shows, including Survivor, Manhunt – Solving Britain’s Crimes, and Who Killed My Father? Terry Lloyd’s Death, Nelson Mandela: His Life and Legacy, Good Morning, and so on.

Mark worked for ITV News for nearly three decades. 

He was let go by the network at the end of 2016.

He later joined Sky News and is now a U.S. reporter for the network.

In February 2022, Austin presented Sky News live from Kyiv on the first day of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
