Matt Cassel, the celebrated quarterback for the NFL’s Detroit Lions, made his professional debut with the New England Patriots. In the seventh round of the 2005 draft, the young athlete was selected. Since then, he has played for the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings, Tennessee Titans, and Dallas Cowboys, among others.

He played college football at the University of Southern California before turning pro. He had also earned a letterman jacket as a standout in both baseball and football during his time at Chatsworth High School.

During his senior year, he was ranked eighth as a quarterback and 53rd overall among the top high school players in the United States by ESPN’s Tom Lemming’s Top 100. It’s not a bad way to begin a career.

Matt Cassel: Birth, Parents, Siblings & Education

On May 17, 1982, in Northridge, Los Angeles, California, Matthew Brennan Cassel was born to Emmy-winning set decorator Barbara Cassel and Greg Cassel.

He was raised in Northridge, California, by his parents, along with his two brothers, Jack and Justin, and a sister, Amanda.

The 1994 Northridge earthquake struck when the young athlete was 11 years old, trapping his father beneath a marble column and flooding their home with water from their swimming pool.

As a result, his family was forced to relocate because their home had been condemned by the earthquake. Matt’s parents divorced when he was 14 years old, and his father died on December 8, 2008.

Another notable incident in his family’s home was the fire outbreak that occurred on January 26th, 2012 in Loch Lloyd, Missouri.

Matt, who was the first to notice smoke coming from the house, dashed in to warn the others. Fortunately, the entire family survived the heinous incident.

As previously stated, Matt Cassel attended Chatsworth High School, where he excelled in both football and baseball, earning recommendations and accolades for his efforts.

After graduating from Chatsworth High School, the rising star went on to study Communication at the University of Southern California.

Matt was also a college football player, which got him noticed and led to him being drafted into the NFL in 2005.

Matt Cassel has two brothers: Jack, his older brother, was a well-known pitcher for the Houston Astros and the San Diego Padres, while Justin, his younger brother, is also a pitcher and spent six seasons with the Chicago White Sox Farm System.

Matt appeared in Freshman Year, an HBO Family Program, when his younger brother, Justin, was featured as a student on the show when he was younger.

Matt Cassel: Relationship Status

Lauren Killian, a volleyball player at the University of Southern California, is the famous footballer’s college sweetheart. The couple met while attending USC and married in February 2007 as Matt’s best man.

Matt Cassel and Lauren have four children: Quinn Cassel, a daughter born in 2010, Matt Cassel Jr., a son, Ella Cassel, a daughter, and Clayton Cassel, a son born in 2015.

Lauren Killian, Matt’s wife, is 6 feet 1 inch tall and, like her husband, is a talented and skilled athlete who was born and raised in Los Angeles.

She made her mark as a national champion while playing volleyball at the University of Southern California, where she served as team captain and won the national championship in 2002, earning her a presidential handshake with then-President George W. Bush. Don’t you think it’s pretty impressive?

She was also named team captain twice, and she finished 10th all-time in school history at the University of Southern California. In addition, the volleyball player was named to the Pac-10 All-Academic Honorable Mention team.
