She made her screen debut on April 11th, 1995, and played Carly until May 8th, 1996, when she had to take a break due to her pregnancy.

Maura did, however, return to the show in September 1997 and remained on it until its finale on September 17, 2010, appearing in 847 episodes of the award-winning series. Maura was nominated for two Daytime Emmy Awards and garnered countless other nominations.

After the series ended, Maura looked for another long-term job, and the next year she was cast in another long-running soap opera, “The Young and the Restless,” where she played Diane Jenkins for seven months and approximately 100 episodes until being replaced by the third actress in the position.

Maura was cast in the role of Ava Jerome, which received critical acclaim, and has appeared in over 580 episodes of the Golden Globe-nominated series since her debut in May 2013. Maura was nominated for four Daytime Emmy Awards and won in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2015.

Maura also made her cinematic debut in 2014, playing Eileen in Jon Abrahams, Andrew Beckham, and Jeanette Branch’s fantasy horror-mystery film “Come Back to Me.”
