Max Goof: Disney’s Goofy’s Son

Max Goof

What is the identity of Max Goof?

Maximilian “Max” Goof is the animated son of the Disney character Goofy. He first debuted as Goofy Jr. in 1951’s “Fathers Are People,” and then as Max Goof, a preteen, in 1992’s Goof Troop.

Max Goof later appeared as a parking valet in the spin-off films A Goofy Movie (1995), An Extremely Goofy Movie (2000), and House of Mouse (2001). Finally, he appeared as a tiny child (2004) in the 1999 direct-to-video film Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas and its 2005 sequel, Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas.

Max Goof has also starred in video games such as Disney Golf (2002) for the PlayStation 2 and Goof Troop (1993) for the Super NES. He also appeared on the PC CD in Disney’s Extremely Goofy Skateboarding (2001).

Unfortunately, neither the TV show nor the films feature his wife from the 1950s shorts.

Geef, Goofy’s wife, is also Max’s mother. Spoonerville is the principal setting for the 1992-1993 television series Goof Troop,

as well as one of the settings for its spin-off films A Goofy Movie and An Extremely Goofy Movie. Spoonerville,

according to the Goofy map, is a city in Ohio’s Delaware County.

Max is an adult, whereas Goofy is knowledgeable but not always aware of what is going on.

Max adores his father, although he periodically lies to him to keep him from derailing his projects.

He even changed the route his father and grandfather traveled to come to Los Angeles on a map.

Personality & Physical Appearance

Max Goof is a peach-colored anthropomorphic dog with black fur, floppy ears, and a bean-shaped skull.

He compares himself to his father, Goofy, however, there are some notable differences:

Max Goof’s Strengths and Abilities

Throughout the series, Max has demonstrated his ability as a superb skateboarder,

performing several feats and postures and inventing enough to create his own technique.

In the second film, he admits that “it’s [his] best event.” He does many feats on his way home,

including a backflip off a brick wall. Max is also a very athletic individual who is an excellent skateboarder.

Max would be unable to defeat a bully (such as Leech) without the support of his best friend, P.J.

Despite his weakness, he and P.J. fought hard. Finally, in the show’s videogame adaption,

he could physically pick up objects (such as coconuts, bombs, barrels, and so on) and use them as ammunition.

Relationship

Roxanne was Max’s obsession, but she didn’t seem to notice him.

He assumed she wasn’t interested in him since he looked so much like his father.

As a result, he was unable to perceive her for who she truly was.

Roxanne cared for Max after he collapsed and began to like him, particularly for his giggle.

She seemed to be aware of something strange, and he was willing to lie to her in order to keep her.

Sing-Along Songs from Disney

The theme park’s live-action Max makes a few appearances in the

1998 Disney’s Sing-Along Songs: Happy Haunting: Party at Disneyland Video.

He first appears dancing with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Pluto, a vampire, and other young people at Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion Halloween party.

He may be seen during the Halloween celebration during the song “It’s Halloween,”

and immediately after “Grim Grinning Ghosts,” he assists in hanging the decorations.

Later, he may be seen in the Haunted Mansion dancing to “The Monster Mash” and trick-or-treating in Mickey’s Toontown during the song “Trick or Treat.”

Max graduates from high school with his best friends P.J. and

Bobby Zimuruski in the direct-to-video sequel to A Goofy Movie, An Extremely Goofy Movie.

He wants to compete in the College X Games and start a new life for himself.

Gamma Mu Mu, a five-time X Games champion fraternity, welcomes him and his friends to campus.

But, because P.J. and Bobby aren’t invited to join the Gammas, Max wagers against the Gammas’ commander,

Bradley Uppercrust III, to see who will be the other’s towel boy if either of them wins the X-Games.

House of Mouse’s Max Goof

Max appears regularly in House of Mouse, where he works as a teen at the club’s valet parking.

The program appears to take place after the events of at least A Goofy Movie, if not too long after An Extremely Goofy Movie,

as he is dating Roxanne again but does not (at first) have his car.

He is shown to be pretty level-headed, perhaps the most so of the four.
