According to a statement made by the institution on Friday night, Kohberger finished his first semester as a Ph.D. student in the school’s criminal justice department earlier in December.

Kohberger formerly attended DeSales University as an undergraduate and graduate student, according to a statement on the University’s website.

Bryan Kohberger, a DeSales University student researcher, requested participation in a study “to investigate how emotions and psychological features influence decision-making when committing a crime” in a Reddit post that was removed after the arrest became public.

“This study tries to uncover the story behind your most recent criminal offense, with an emphasis on your thoughts and feelings throughout your experience,” according to the now-deleted Reddit post.

When CNN contacted one of the study’s key investigators, a professor at DeSales University, they declined to comment. The college has yet to make a statement.

According to a representative for Northampton Community College, Kohberger graduated with an Associate of Arts in Psychology in 2018.

The suspect arrested in connection with the slayings of four University of Idaho students allegedly stabbed to death in November attended a local school and lived close to the crime scene.

Bryan Christopher Kohberger, 28, was held in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, on Friday owing to an active arrest warrant for first-degree murder issued by the Moscow, Idaho, Police Department, and the Latah County Prosecutor’s Office, according to the criminal complaint.

Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Kernodle’s boyfriend, Ethan Chapin, 20, were all stabbed repeatedly in the early hours of November 13 at their residence outside of the small college town of Moscow.

According to the statement, police from the University’s Pullman campus assisted authorities in carrying out search warrants at his apartment and business.

Earlier, a CNN crew obtained photos of police officers outside a graduate student residence in Pullman, Washington, that authorities alleged was linked to Kohberger.

Moscow, the place of the killings, is just a 15-minute drive from Pullman.

The suspect is currently in police custody.

Unfortunately, no additional information regarding the case was discovered because the Police Department is currently investigating and has kept some material classified for official reasons.
