Brooklyn Bishop was arrested, and people are seeking to learn more about what led to his detention.

He was accused of fraud, according to reports, but has maintained his innocence.

Whitehead asserted his innocence in a 15-minute Instagram video posted on Tuesday in response to the revelation of the federal charges levied against him.

“The bishop is innocent,” Whitehead says in the video as he sits in front of two smiling images of himself.

And I’m going to fight it. More important than having the appropriate legal team is having God.”

Whitehead is accused of coercing others into giving him money through lies and threats, which he allegedly used to purchase himself luxury.

Between April 2020 and July 2021, Whitehead allegedly induced one of his parishioners to deposit around $90,000 of her retirement money.

The bishop consented on the condition that he helps her locate housing and use a portion of the proceeds to invest in his real estate business.

Instead, the indictment alleges that Whitehead spent the money on himself.

According to the indictment, Whitehead pressured an unnamed businessman into handing over large sums of money in another incident.

Whitehead is said to have persuaded the businessman to pay the church Leader $500,000 and a stake in particular real estate ventures in the spring of 2022.

According to the prosecution, the individual was promised “favorable acts” from the New York City government in exchange for which both Whitehead and himself would benefit.

According to Manhattan U.S. Attorney Damian Williams, the 44-year-old preacher, also known as Bishop Whitehead, who became known as the “bling bishop,” “bullied a businessman for $5,000, then tried to cheat him of substantially more than that.”

The prosecution claims that Whitehead induced one of his parishioners to withdraw $90,000 from her retirement account by promising to help her buy a new home.
