Shaman Durek Verrett was born on November 17, 1974, in California, United States of America.  Durek’s father is Haitian, and his mother is Norwegian-Indian.

As a result, Shaman is of multiracial ethnicity. He began his shamanic studies at the age of 12 as the spiritual heir of his great-grandmother. He later received his diploma from the National Holistic Institute.
