Between 2000 and 2004, Cartoon Network aired four seasons of Courage the Cowardly Dog. Courage the Cowardly Dog was about Courage, a fearful dog played by Marty Grabstein who is found by Muriel Bagge, an elderly Scottish woman played by her, who adopts him. The third main lead of the show was Eustace Bagge, husband of Muriel and played by Lionel Wilson and Arthur Anderson.

John Zitner, her brother, went to the press on August 1, 2021 to announce Thea’s death. She died “peacefully of complications from surgery,” according to John.

Thea had apparently recently undergone surgery for liver cancer. They were able to remove the tumour, however the procedure caused an infection. “She fought hard with the fortitude to try to fight her liver cancer and to resume life or to die trying,” another brother, Brad Zitzner, posted on Facebook.

Thea had filmed a video two days before her operation, jokingly discussing her surgery and recovery. John, her brother, shared the videos on Facebook. In those recordings, Thea appeared to be quite joyful, and she stated that she could recover faster if she could watch videos of her family’s young children playing in the ocean.

There was a deluge of tributes from family, friends, and admirers after her death was announced.
