Jonnie Irwin recently revealed that he has lung cancer.

He was diagnosed with the disease in 2020, but only recently decided to speak out about it.

The iconic TV host also accused the producers of A Place In The Sun of removing him from the show as soon as he informed them of his death.

When he announced his terminal lung cancer diagnosis, he claims management paid him off for the rest of the season but did not extend his contract despite knowing he wanted to continue.

He had informed the producers that he would be obtaining documentation from his oncologist stating that he was fit to work.

According to Freeform Productions and Channel 4, “no stone was left unturned” in their efforts to find a way for Jonnie to stay, but they were unable to obtain insurance.

While filming the episode in Italy, Jonnie became suspicious that something was wrong.

His vision clouded while driving. When he returned, the doctors told him he only had six months to live.

He has been hosting A Place in the Sun since 2004 and Escape to the Country since 2010.
