Why did Troy Aikman Retire? Troy Aikman is a former American quarterback who played 12 seasons in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys. After leaving Oklahoma, he went on to play collegiate football at UCLA, where he won the Davey O’Brien Award as a senior.
The Cowboys selected Aikman first overall in the 1989 NFL Draft.
He was selected to six Pro Bowls and won three Super Bowls while playing for them.
Aikman was inducted into both the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006 and 2008, respectively.
After retiring in 2000, Aikman worked as a color analyst for NFL on Fox from 2001 through 2021.
He has done the same for Monday Night Football since 2022.

What happened to Troy Aikman?
After 20 seasons as Fox’s top broadcast tandem, ESPN announced on March 16, 2022, that Buck and Troy Aikman will join the network as the new lead analysts of Monday Night Football.
Aikman and his partner Joe Buck were overheard on a hot mic debating whether a military flyover was required before a 2020 NFL game between the Packers and the Buccaneers in Tampa when just 15,000 people were allowed inside Raymond James Stadium.
To paraphrase Aikman, “That’s a lot of jet fuel just for a quick flyover,” and “That stuff ain’t happening with a Kamala-Biden ticket, I’ll tell you right now, pal,” are two other memorable remarks from him.
Later, a military spokesman said that the flyovers were free of charge.
Meanwhile, Buck and Aikman were accused of being unpatriotic.
However, in 1992-1993, his first season without an injury, Aikman led the Cowboys to a Super Bowl victory over the Buffalo Bills.
Running back Emmitt Smith and receiver Michael Irvin were also on the team.
Aikman was named the game’s Most Valuable Player.
In 1994, the Cowboys defended their crown by defeating the Bills in the Super Bowl.
Troy Aikman Retired for What Reason?
Troy Aikman is well-dressed and calculated, and in the early 1990s, he dashed Eagles fans’ postseason hopes.
Philadelphia is the brown bag on the stoop, and Aikman is the yellow dog fetching a Crate & Barrel catalog.
So it’s surprising to find that the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback nearly joined the Eagles in the early 2000s after nearly retiring.
Aikman spoke with KESN-FM in Dallas on how Donovan McNabb’s injury nearly forced him out of his content retirement.
Andy Reid, the Eagles’ head coach at the time, he claims, called him during a broadcast to make the job offer.
Aikman went on to add that Norv Turner, the head coach of the San Diego Chargers at the time, helped him think about the offer.
Finally, he decided against being forced onto the field in subfreezing temperatures, preferring good weather and personal safety.
He argued that his decision had benefited both parties.

The Private Life of Troy Aikman
Troy Aikman dated country singer Lorrie Morgan, who was previously named Texas Monthly’s most eligible bachelor in Dallas.
On April 8, 2000, in Plano, Texas, he married Rhonda Worthey, a former Cowboys publicist.
Worthey’s daughter from a previous marriage is named Rachel.
The daughters of Worthey and Aikman.
The couple announced their divorce on January 24, 2011.
Their divorce was finally completed on April 12, 2011.
On June 2, 2017, Aikman announced his engagement to high-end clothes retailer Catherine “Capa” Mooty through Instagram.
Mooty has two sons with her ex-husband, attorney Jerry Mooty, Jerry Jones’ nephew, and Cowboys owner.
On September 1, 2017, Aikman and Catherine Mooty exchanged vows at the Biltmore Four Seasons in Montecito, California.
