Page was Google’s CEO from 1997 to August 2001, and again from April 2011 to July 2015, when he took over as CEO of Alphabet Inc, the company’s newly established parent company.

That was designed to deliver “major advancements” as Google’s parent company, a position he held until December 4, 2019, when Page and co-founder Brin stood down from all Executive posts and day-to-day roles inside the Company.

He is still a member of Alphabet’s board of directors, a team member, and the majority shareholder of the company.

Larry Page’s Illness and Health in 2023

The declaration made by Google CEO Larry Page regarding his vocal cord problem underscores the difficulty that many corporate executives have while dealing with the disease and running a business.

Page revealed last week that he had vocal cord paralysis, a rare nerve ailment in the larynx that impairs your capacity to speak that he was diagnosed with 14 years ago.

Due to illness, he recently missed major Google events and investor calls.

Last week, when Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg spoke before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Google’s senior executives were conspicuously absent.

After Page and Google CEO Sundar Pichai declined to attend, an empty seat was set up on stage for them.

Google execs were criticized by Democratic Virginia Senator Mark Warner for failing to present.

“Given Google’s size and influence, I would have thought that its leadership would want to demonstrate how seriously it takes these challenges and lead this important public discussion,” he added.

Page’s absence from public life does not imply that he is no longer interested in technology.

According to Bloomberg, Page has abandoned corporate partnerships at Google in favor of futuristic initiatives that tickle his interest.

Page, for example, has invested heavily in flying car companies such as Kitty Hawk and BlackFly.

Page has long guarded his privacy, but his absence from public life may irritate some now that Google, like other social media companies, is being scrutinized.
