Tumor recorded music that AllMusic described as “post-chillwave” in the early 2010s. In 2015, he released an EP for Berlin’s experimental club label Janus and another for Blanco’s label, Dogfood MG.
He signed with PAN Records in September 2016 and released his label debut, Serpent Music. Tumor had spent three years working on the album after moving to Leipzig, Germany.
In December 2020, he collaborated with Kelsey Lu on the single “Let all the poisons that lurk in the mud seep out,” which featured Moses Boyd and Kelly Moran.
Heaven to a Tortured Mind, his fourth album, will be released on April 3, 2020.
On March 3, it was preceded by the single “Kerosene” featuring Diana Gordon. Alexis Petridis, writing for The Guardian, named the album Album of the Week, calling it “extraordinary.”
