Mike White’s Professional Career

White started five games for South Florida as a true freshman in 2013, completing 93 of 175 passes for 1,083 yards, three touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

He was named the starting quarterback prior to his sophomore season in 2014, and in 10 starts, he completed 122 of 242 passes for 1,639 yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

White transferred to Western Kentucky University when South Florida head coach Willie Taggart switched from a pro-style to a spread system in 2015.

He was forced to sit out the whole 2015 season due to NCAA transfer rules. White was chosen as the starting quarterback for the 2016 season, replacing Brandon Doughty, who had left for the draft.

In 2017, he returned as the starter and completed 368 of 580 passes for 4, 177 yards, 26 touchdowns, and eight interceptions as a senior. White accepted the invitation to play in the 2018 Senior Bowl on November 30, 2017, according to reports.

White raised his draft status greatly by performing well in the 2018 Reese’s Senior Bowl, where he completed 8 of 11 pass attempts for 128 yards and two touchdowns as part of Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien’s South team, who defeated the North 45-16.

While attending Western Kentucky’s pro day on March 30, 2018, he chose to stand on his Combined numbers and only participate in positional and passing drills.

White was anticipated to be a third- or fourth-round choice by the majority of NFL draft experts and scouts at the conclusion of the pre-draft process: DraftScout com ranked him as the eighth-best quarterback prospect in the draft, while Scouts Inc listed him as the ninth-best quarterback.

White signed a four-year, $2.67 million contract with the Dallas Cowboys on May 12, 2018, which included a $217,553 signing bonus.

He was given the opportunity to compete for the backup quarterback role behind Dak Prescott during the preseason after making the team as a third-string quarterback in 2019. After the organization elected to carry only two quarterbacks on the regular-season roster, White was cut on August 31.
