Nedeljkovic began his career in the T1EBHL with the Cleveland Barons Bantam in 2009-10.

He stayed with the club until the 2010-11 season. 

He played for Belle Tire U16 in the T1EHL U16 in 2011-12.

He began his major junior career with the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) in 2012.

In his first season, he won the F. W. “Dinty” Moore Trophy and was chosen to the 2012-13 OHL First All-first Team with a goals-against-average of 2.28.

Nedeljkovic won a silver medal with Team USA at the 2013 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and was chosen to play in both the CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game and the 2014 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game the following season.

On March 27, 2015, Nedeljkovic signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Carolina Hurricanes after finishing the 2014-15 season with the Whalers.

In the final regular-season games, he was assigned to the ECHL club, the Florida Everblades, to make his professional debut.

The Flint Firebirds traded Nedeljkovic and fellow Hurricanes draft pick Josh Wesley to the Niagara IceDogs in November 2015 for goaltender Brent Moran.

Nedeljkovic became the 12th ECHL goaltender to score a goal on December 30, 2016, while playing for the Florida Everblades.

On January 17, 2017, Nedeljkovic made his NHL debut in relief of starter Cam Ward against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena.

In the 2016-17 season, he also appeared in twenty-five games with the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.

He also played for the American team that won bronze at the IIHF World U20 Championships in 2016.
