Charly Arnolt- Professional Career

In September 2018, she joined the ESPN news team. Charly’s current responsibilities include updating SportsCenter and hosting a SportsCenter Snapchat show.

Charly had previously hosted First Take for the first time. After someone in the talent department asked Charly what she wanted to do at the network if she had a choice, she was assigned the role.

Charly’s positive impression in late December 2018 opened up more opportunities for First Take and also cemented her role as the primary fill-in host.

Charly is now a regular on ESPN’s First Take, Her Take podcast, alongside Arnolt, Kimberley A. Martin, and Chiney Ogwumike. The format of the show is mostly the same as that of the television show.

The podcast also allows the team to discuss other aspects of their lives and culture.

Charly also appears on SportsNation on ESPN+ and other shows on the streaming service on a regular basis.

However, she admitted that it has been difficult to ensure that her WWE and ESPN schedules do not conflict over the last 12 to 18 months. As a result, she has completed her transition from WWE to ESPN.

Tony Khan (NFL Jacksonville Jaguars co-owner) invited Charly to a WWE SmackDown show in Indianapolis in 2016.

She met Mark Carrano, the WWE Senior Director of Talent Relations, at that show, who introduced her to Michael Cole, the WWE Monday Night Raw play-by-play commentator.

Michael is instrumental in the company’s hiring of TV broadcasters and ring announcers.

Despite Michael’s enthusiasm, there were no available positions. After Brandi Rhodes (current Chief Brand Officer for All Elite Wrestling (AEW)) left WWE in May 2016, Charly saw an opportunity and joined the company.

During her time there, she changed her name to Charly Caruso and began working as a ring announcer for WWE NXT.

It didn’t take long for her to make the main roster, though. She conducted interviews with WWE superstars and hosted events, segments, and shows on WWE Network, WWE social media, WWE YouTube, and USA Network.

Charly also hosted pre-show panels and backstage interviews on Monday Night RAW and WWE NXT. Charly did not re-sign a new contract with WWE in 2021.

In 2010, she joined the WSAZ-TV news team in Huntington, West Virginia as a reporter. She later returned to Indianapolis and worked as a freelance reporter for WXIN “Fox 59.”

Charly moved to WDAF-TV “Fox 4” in Kansas City, Missouri, in 2011. She worked there for about two years before returning to WXIN in 2014 as a sports reporter and anchor.
