He pitched five innings, allowing two hits and striking out four batters. With the Astros’ victory, Urquidy became the second Mexican-born pitcher to win a World Series game, joining Fernando Valenzuela.

In 2021, he started Game 3 of the ALCS against the Boston Red Sox and Game 2 of the World Series against the Atlanta Braves, and despite a shaky start in the former that lasted less than three minutes, he bounced back well in the latter, pitching five innings of one-run ball with seven strikeouts as the Astros defeated the Braves.

With the win, Urquidy became the first Mexican-born pitcher to win multiple World Series games. He then pitched one scoreless inning of relief in Game 5, earning the win and becoming the most successful foreign-born player in World Series history.
