She began working in a private industry that deals with Architectural/Engineering firms after finishing her studies in 1980. After three years, she is assigned to various positions in the United States Army Corps of Engineers. She was seen working as a lead construction manager, project engineer, resident engineer, and a variety of other positions.
In 2003, she managed and led a team of approximately 100 engineers and scientists who were in charge of $3.5 billion in civil works and military programs. She was a SES Director of Reconstruction Program, US Army Project, and Contracting Officer in 2005.
She was stationed in Baghdad, Iraq, and was in charge of overseeing the completion of approximately 3,200 construction projects. She oversaw the $14.6 billion hurricane storm damage system in New Orleans and Southeast Louisiana in 2007.
Hurricanes Katrina and Rita caused widespread devastation. She created a system that would prevent catastrophic flooding, loss of life, and property damage. For the first time in more than 50 years, the USACE received the American Society of Civil Engineers 2014 award for Civil Engineering Achievement.
