Meg Johnson, an Emmerdale legend, died on July 2, 2023, at the age of 86, after a long battle with dementia.
Meg died just four months after losing her loving husband, Charles Foster, an ITV Granada announcer.
In the early 1980s, Meg played Eunice Gee on ITV’s Coronation Street, a character she briefly reprised in 1999.
The dynamic actress also appeared in Victoria Wood’s As Seen On TV.
Similarly, she appeared alongside late comic Dame Julie Walters and Celia Imrie.
Johnson joined the original cast of Chicago’s London Revival in 1997 when she played jail warder Matron Mama Morton for over a year.

In a joint statement, her family, talent agency Jorg Betts Associates, and the ITV program announced the death of “kind and wonderful” Meg Johnson.
“It is with great sadness that we announce that actress Meg Johnson passed away peacefully yesterday evening, surrounded by her family,” the statement said.
“Meg was a wonderful and kind lady, full of warmth and a twinkle in her eye.”
Meg’s stellar career came to an end in 2003 when she played Pearl Ladderbanks in Emmerdale.
“Meg had dementia for a few years but kept going personally and professionally.”
Everyone who knew her will miss her tremendously.”
Many heartbroken admirers came to pay their respects to the actress, with one person tweeting:
“Rest in peace, Meg; she was a wonderful actress who was fantastic as Pearl.”
Always glamorous and full of heart. My thoughts are with her family, lovely lady.”
Following the news of her passing, followers paid tribute to the actress on social media.
While the amazing actress Gemma Oaten, who co-starred in the soap drama with Meg, commented on Twitter:
