For more than seven years, he served as the BBC’s Washington correspondent. 

Tom was also one of the journalists who traveled to Iraq with Vice President Dick Cheney in 2003.

He covered the 2004 election and its aftermath, two presidential election campaigns, and numerous global visits with President Clinton and President Bush.

Before joining CLS in 2008, he led the Washington Control Risks office, which is one of the world’s major political-risk consultancies.

Tom is also a published author, having written for The Independent, London Review of Books, The Sunday Times, New Statesman, and The Guardian.

He wrote Where the hell have you been?, which details his father’s adventures throughout WWII, including his escape from POW camp PG 49.
