Why was businessman Frank Buyanga arrested?

In response to a Zimbabwean arrest order, Interpol captured Frank Buyanga, a multimillionaire gold dealer and property investor, in South Africa.

According to a statement issued by the South African Police Services (SAPS) on Thursday, Buyanga, 42, was apprehended at around 4 a.m. at a fancy hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg, as part of an Interpol-led investigation that placed the business tycoon on Red Notice.

According to SAPS spokeswoman Colonel Athlenda Mathe, Sadiqi is wanted in Zimbabwe for child trafficking, falsification, and violating the immigration act.

The allegations concern an incident in Zimbabwe in April 2020 in which the suspect abducted his family members and fled to South Africa with them.

“Zimbabwean officials promptly issued an arrest warrant, and Interpol Harare issued a red notice.”

The owner of Hamilton Property appeared in Randburg Magistrates Court on Thursday morning and was remanded in jail until a formal bail application was submitted on November 17, 2022.

Following the issuance of an arrest order, Zimbabwean authorities alerted Interpol, placing him on “Red Notice”—a designation that allows member states to detain a suspect if they arrive on their territory.

Interpol has been asked to assist the applicant and his minor child in locating them outside of the United States.
