Spencer Rattler- Professional Career

He began his high school career at Pinnacle High School in Phoenix, Arizona. On his 18th birthday, he broke Arizona High School’s passing record.

According to his high school statistics, he threw 11,083 yards over four years, with 116 passing touchdowns and 14 rushing touchdowns for 1,040 yards. In his sophomore year, he was named MVP of the Elite 11 in a competition other than Texas.

During his final year, he was featured in a Netflix sports documentary series called ‘QB1: Beyond The Lights.’ Rattler was later suspended for violating one of the district’s codes of conduct and was unable to play the rest of the season.

Rattler stated that he had sprained his MCL, but he was warned by school officials not to say anything about the nature of the code of conduct violation committed by him.

Rattler is a 5-star prospect who was very fortunate to receive 14 offers from NCAA D-I schools by the end of his senior year, including Alabama and Notre Dame.

He paid an unofficial visit to Oklahoma on June 19, 2017, and made a commitment to them a week later. His letter of intent was signed on December 19, 2019 to play for the Oklahoma Sooners and under Lincoln Riley’s coaching.

He finally enrolled at Oklahoma on June 12, 2019, and played in the second half of a game against the LSU Tigers in the College Football Playoff Semi-Final during his redshirt year.

On the 26th of September of his redshirt freshman year, he tied the Oklahoma record set by Sam Bradford in 2008 for most touchdown passes in two weeks by eight.

He had to compete for his spot on the Sooners with Tanner Mordecai.

However, his start to his college career at the threat quarterback position number 7 was not particularly successful, as they were defeated 38-35 by Kansas State.
